Da’wah
Despite obtaining knowledge and performing conscious
actions, a student of knowledge can still be oblivious about
world affairs and can have a lack of concern for the state
of Muslims and non Muslims alike. Therefore, another vital
objective – Da’wah unto Allah (God Almighty) gives the
student the toolkit needed to work towards achieving a state
of perfect equilibrium.
This objective aims to balance the inward and the outward
manifestations of ones deen (way of life). Here, the student
of knowledge is made aware of the world around him or her,
and makes the intention to develop a consciousness that
exacts a positive influence on those he or she interacts
with.
Regrettably, even amidst personal spiritual revival, many a
Muslim pre-occupied with the cleansing of the soul falls
short of desired concern for humanity, and the extension of
benefit to others. If the student were to overcome this
level they would become truly knowledgeable, a wayfarer of
the spiritual path.
‘The one who posses a deep concern for human kind, and thus
for calling to the way of God’.

Sacred Knowledge
It is universally recognised that all bona-fide
institutions of learning are built upon knowledge. Likewise
our classes aim to facilitate the acquisition of the sacred
knowledge ‘at the feet’ of qualified scholars who are
distinguished by authenticated chains of sacred transmission
that stretch unbroken all the way back to the divine origin.
This divinely protected method of knowledge transfer is the
basis for the preservation of sacred knowledge as well as
for the spread of the sacred law amongst human kind, such
that it requires the fusion of formal acquisition paired
with the connection to said chain of transmission. This
process of conveyance and preservation is attained via
studying of selected texts with teachers of high repute.
Spiritual Discipline
Another essential objective is the promotion of a
reinforced spiritual discipline and ultimately the
purification of ones soul. Such a lofty objective can be
achieved via the implementation of particular spiritual
works (the remembrance of Allah, formal gatherings, prayer
etc.) as well as studying of specific texts (e.g. the books
of al-Imam al-Ghazali and al-Imam al-Haddad etc). Via this
pairing of beneficial knowledge and good deeds, the student
has the potential to attain a relative mastery of the
outward sciences, whilst attaining an inner-light due to the
acquisition of such knowledge and consciously acting in
accordance with it. (Spiritual Wayfaring).
Knowledge should not just manifest on the tongue, but should
also reside in the heart, therein, the student of knowledge
is not veiled by the outward sciences nor is he/she lazy in
regards to its acquisition. |
